Malibu’s Correspondent of Summer

We just got a notice from the fine folks at Pernod Ricard, distributors of Malibu rum, about a fun contest they’re running this summer. From their email:

We’re looking for one dynamic person to travel the country this summer, reporting from the road with two white-hot Billboard musical artists, filing dispatches on how people from San Diego, Miami, Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Boston, Los Angeles and Dallas get their summer on. The gig? We call it the Correspondent of Summer.

Funded by the Bajan rum, Malibu, one individual will move, groove and dance through their summer when they trade in their cubicle for a paid summer of music, sand, surf and sun. The three top candidates will be flown to Barbados for a final interview, with one lucky individual trading in their button-down for flip flops, and given a generous entertainment budget and a summer stipend of $15,000 to report on parties, interview celebrities, and host a concert series with two of the biggest names in music.

Qualified candidates can simply go to MalibuCorrespondent.com and upload a video reel explaining why they should be considered for the gig. Applicants must apply before May 15, and should be ready for the best summer of their lives!

Were I not as old as the wind, I’d give it a go, but I’ll leave it for our dynamic readers to get whisked around the country to compete for a gig to spend the summer in Barbados. Bonus fact that I’ve learned from this: Bajan is the shortened form of Barbadian. Who knew?

Good luck, and send us a link to your video!
