Espolón Añejo follow-up

After posting my lament for the missing Espolón añejo tequila, Shani, a very considerate representative of Espolón and Skyy Spirits, sent along an email letting me know that there are plans to release an añejo some time in the future. Thank you, Shani, for the note. I’m thrilled about the news and honored to share this with my readers.

A bit of history from the email Shani sent:

Espolón was originally introduced to the United States as a finite release, winning a gold medal at the San Francisco Spirits Competition; but with the tequila only available to a limited region of the U.S., tequila lovers were forced to cross the border to obtain it — heightening its reputation with aficionados. Now, with Espolón available nationally, everyone has an opportunity to enjoy this distinct and flavorful tequila.

For Christmas, my wonderful sister-in-law gifted the Ferment household with a bottle of 1800 reposado tequila. I’m planning to have a bit of a taste test between that and the Don Nacho reposado that I recently reviewed. I’d like to get a bottle of the Espolón reposado, as well, to round out this taste test. That may not happen in time, but, either way, the results of the reposado tequila taste test will be published shortly after the new year.
